Cheltenham is set to celebrate the festive season with a diverse lineup of seven family-friendly events, as detailed by the Cheltenham Trust. The programme promises to deliver holiday cheer through a variety of activities, including enchanting light displays, orchestral performances, and opportunities to meet Father Christmas. The festivities will take place at some of the town’s most cherished venues, commencing on November 22.
The festivities will officially launch at the Pittville Pump Room with a free Christmas Lights Switch On event starting at 14:00. Families can enjoy live music, a circus performance, a foam party, and crafts designed for children. Father Christmas will make a special appearance before the lights are illuminated at 17:30, transforming the iconic venue into a sparkling holiday wonderland.
On December 4, the Cheltenham Town Hall will host “The Music of Harry Potter” concert presented by Mystery Ensemble. This 60-minute performance will feature beloved melodies from the films, delivered live by a talented group of musicians. Young attendees are invited to dress in their finest for the Princess Afternoon Tea events at Pittville Pump Room on December 7 and December 14. The delightful experience includes a buffet featuring festive finger foods, a meet-and-greet with a princess, and an interactive performance filled with stories, songs, and games. Tickets for this enchanting afternoon are available for £22.50 for children and £32.50 for adults.
On December 13, the Wilson Art Gallery and Museum will host a Crafty Christmas Party at 14:00. This engaging event offers children the chance to participate in hands-on crafting sessions led by professional artists, explore a festive trail throughout the galleries, and enjoy glitter tattoos along with seasonal treats. Tickets are available for £10.
Also taking place on December 13, the Leisure at Cheltenham will organize its “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” family party, featuring activities such as soft play, bouncy castles, arts and crafts, and a relaxed session at 13:00 for children who prefer a calmer environment. Tickets for this fun-filled event are priced at £13.
On December 21, the Pittville Pump Room will host Santa’s Tea Party, featuring a buffet of seasonal treats, a meet-and-greet with Father Christmas, and festive crafts. Guests will also receive a goody bag filled with surprises. Tickets start at £24.50.
Finally, on December 23, families can enjoy a musical double feature at the Cheltenham Town Hall. The programme includes live readings of “The Gruffalo” and “The Gruffalo’s Child,” followed by a screening of “The Snowman,” with live orchestral accompaniment from the Mozart Symphony Orchestra.
