Wrekin College Celebrates Four Pupils Selected for Elite Netball Roles

BREAKING: Wrekin College has just announced a remarkable achievement as four of its talented pupils earn prestigious netball roles. This exciting news comes amid the school’s ongoing success in netball, with the U19 squad celebrating a decade of victories in county finals.

Millie Jacklin-Chatha, a current student, has been selected for the England Roses U19 Academy Squad. Former students Halee Robinson and Josie Pointon have also made headlines; Halee joins the London Pulse NexGen Squad, while Josie is appointed Head Coach for the England Roses Academy Squad. Additionally, Caitlin Tandy from the Upper Sixth has been named to the Republic of Ireland squad.

Wrekin College’s Director of Netball, Caroline Ritchie-Morgan, expressed her delight for the four athletes, highlighting their dedication and enthusiasm. “All of this success is so well-deserved,” she stated. “Millie, Halee, Caitlin, and Josie are not only talented players but also inspiring individuals who have contributed greatly to our sports department.”

Caroline, a renowned figure in netball and former winner of the Netball Teacher of the Year Award, has been pivotal in nurturing new talent. “The game of netball has seen a real resurgence,” she noted, emphasizing its increasing popularity and impact on inspiring young athletes across the globe.

Millie shared her gratitude, stating, “Wrekin has supported me on and off the court, helping me achieve my goals of becoming an NXT GEN player for Nottingham Forest and an England Roses Academy athlete.” She is focused on her dream of representing England in the future.

Halee reflected on her experience at Wrekin, crediting the school for her growth and success. “Wrekin’s brave attitude to adversity has embedded resilience in me,” she explained. “The support from dedicated teachers helped me achieve my grades to study Physiotherapy at a top institute.”

Netball at Wrekin has flourished, attracting some of the best young talents in the game. The school serves as a player development pathway for the Birmingham Panthers. Caroline confirmed that Josie will soon return to Wrekin, where she will engage with young players, many already on pathways to national performance leagues.
