Police Arrest 11, Seize Thousands in Crackdown Across Midlands

URGENT UPDATE: A major police operation across the West Midlands has led to the arrest of 11 individuals and the seizure of thousands of pounds in cash and illicit goods. This crackdown, part of Operation Machinize, was executed in Coventry, Birmingham, and the Black Country.

Police conducted multiple raids on November 22, targeting locations in Digbeth. During the searches, officers uncovered three imitation firearms, 20 bottles of illegally imported alcohol, and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs. Among the arrested, four were detained on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs.

The operation involved collaboration with various agencies, including the National Crime Agency (NCA), the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU), Home Office Immigration Enforcement, Trading Standards, HM Revenue and Customs, and Companies House. Officers also performed checks on more than 150 businesses, including barbershops, nail bars, and car washes, known to be exploited by organized gangs for money laundering.

Additionally, police in Coventry, along with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), inspected 24 light commercial vehicles, leading to the seizure of five vehicles and the arrest of a man on suspicion of two separate thefts.

This significant enforcement action reflects the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard communities in the region. Authorities urge anyone with information about illicit activity to come forward.
