UPDATE: An urgent traffic operation on Legges Way in Telford has led to over 30 drivers being warned about critical vehicle maintenance issues. This initiative, conducted in conjunction with National Road Safety Week, underscores the theme “Safe Vehicles Save Lives.”
Just hours ago, officers from Telford’s south Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) collaborated with the roads policing motorcycle unit and representatives from Telford & Wrekin Council to educate motorists on essential vehicle safety checks, including tyre tread and lighting systems. This operation highlights the growing emphasis on road safety and vehicle maintenance in the region.
Throughout the week, police have been actively engaging with local schools, including Sir Alexander Fleming Primary, Windmill Primary, John Fletcher School, and Muxton Primary School, as part of their Safer Outside Schools initiative. Officers partnered with the active travel monitoring officer and the Prevention Officer for road and water safety from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, further reinforcing the message of safety in the community.
To enhance engagement, mascots PD Peeler and Rocky the Crocodile joined the police in distributing vital road safety information. Their presence has not only attracted attention but also fostered a sense of community involvement in road safety efforts.
As authorities continue to prioritize vehicle safety, residents are encouraged to perform regular maintenance checks on their vehicles. With the increasing number of vehicles on the road, ensuring that every driver is aware of their responsibilities is crucial for public safety.
Stay tuned for further updates on this ongoing initiative and other developments in road safety measures across Telford.
