URGENT UPDATE: Montenegrin band Jack Lupino is poised to make waves at the Eurovision Song Contest with their electrifying track “Adrenalin” during the second evening of Serbia’s selection for Eurovision, set to take place later this week in Beograd.
Frontman Nebojša Ćulafić expressed excitement about the opportunity, stating that participation in the contest confirms a growing space for new artists and diverse sounds in the regional music scene. “This is a ‘must do’ move for us,” he said, acknowledging the positive feedback they received from producers who heard their song.
Jack Lupino, now based in Beograd, is eager to showcase their unique sound to a wider audience, especially considering the limited opportunities for local artists in Crna Gora. “The music scene back home lacks critical mass; we often find ourselves performing in just two streets in Podgorica,” Ćulafić lamented. “It’s tough for something bigger to happen without enough people to support it.”
He urged artists from Montenegro to connect with those who share their style in neighboring countries, particularly Serbia and Croatia, emphasizing the need for collaboration. “There are many talented individuals here who just need a platform,” he noted.
Reflecting on the recent Montesong festival, Ćulafić remarked on the impressive organization and the quality of performances. He highlighted the growing interest among musicians, indicating a desire to create despite limited exposure. “It shows there are people who want to be heard,” he stated, underscoring the potential for artistic growth.
Among the competition, he identified Tamara Živković’s song “Nova zora” as a strong contender representing Montenegro in Vienna. “It’s one of the best tracks this year, and she has a solid fanbase in Europe,” he remarked, displaying confidence in her success.
Looking ahead, Ćulafić is optimistic about Jack Lupino’s chances at the Eurovision selection, citing their original sound and engaging visual style. “We feel excited and are ready to make a mark. Our rehearsals are going well, and we have a fantastic team,” he shared.
With plans for an upcoming album and a new single set to drop in March 2024, Jack Lupino is gearing up for a busy year. “This participation is a major step towards international recognition,” Ćulafić said, emphasizing the importance of maintaining their authenticity. “We want to represent Serbia at Eurovision and do it right.”
As anticipation builds, local support for Jack Lupino is strong. “Everyone wants to see us shine in Vienna,” he declared, showcasing the communal spirit that surrounds their journey. Keep an eye on this rising band as they prepare to take the stage and potentially reshape the narrative of Montenegrin music on a global platform.
