Employee Spins Car 360° in Icy Parking Lot Near Saundersfoot

UPDATE: A routine commute took a startling turn for an employee at Saundersfoot Harbour this morning, as icy conditions caused their vehicle to spin a full 360 degrees in the car park. The dramatic incident, captured on CCTV, unfolded just before 8:00 AM on January 5, 2023, with the employee arriving around 7:55 AM to begin their shift.

In the footage, a silver car enters the parking area but quickly loses traction on the slick surface, narrowly avoiding a row of bins. Miraculously, the driver remained calm, regaining control and parking safely without causing any damage or injuries.

Speaking anonymously to WalesOnline, the driver shared their shock at the unexpected conditions: “I wasn’t expecting it to be that icy coming into my place of work,” they stated. The driver was adhering to the advised speed limit of 10 mph when the vehicle began to skid. “Down in Pembrokeshire we don’t really get snow or ice like this, so I didn’t expect it to be anywhere near as bad as it was.”

Despite their careful approach, the icy conditions proved treacherous. “I took it as slow as I could but still managed to spin around,” the driver explained. Their background in the car scene helped them stay composed, preventing any panic during the incident.

After safely managing the spin and parking, the employee swiftly addressed the situation by retrieving grit to treat the icy area, ensuring safer conditions for colleagues and visitors. “I did tell a few of my colleagues, and we sat and watched the CCTV,” they added. “It did bring a bit of a giggle.”

While this incident provided some light-hearted relief among staff, it serves as a stark reminder of how quickly weather conditions can shift, particularly in regions like Pembrokeshire that are not accustomed to severe winter weather. “May have to go a little slower next time,” the driver concluded.

This unexpected icy adventure highlights the importance of being vigilant and prepared for sudden weather changes, even in typically mild climates. As winter progresses, residents are urged to exercise caution and adjust driving habits accordingly.
