Bosnian National Arrested for Domestic Violence in Montenegro

In Podgorica, authorities have detained a Bosnian national, identified as S.T., on charges of domestic violence. The Osnovno državno tužilaštvo (Basic State Prosecutor’s Office) announced the arrest following an incident that occurred on January 3, 2026, at approximately 03:30 hours.

The prosecutor’s office outlined that the suspect, while under the influence of alcohol, physically assaulted his partner following a brief verbal dispute. Reports indicate that S.T. allegedly grabbed the victim’s arms, threw her to the ground, and struck her in the face with an open hand. As a result of this attack, the victim sustained minor injuries.

Authorities emphasized the need for the suspect’s detention, citing concerns regarding the risk of flight. Given that S.T. is a foreign national residing in Montenegro solely due to the victim, officials deemed the risk of him leaving the country significant.

The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding domestic violence, a pervasive issue affecting many communities worldwide. The legal proceedings against S.T. will determine the next steps, as the community awaits further developments from the prosecutor’s office.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing domestic violence and supporting victims in their pursuit of justice.
