Two Arrested in Toomebridge Following Armed Response Operation

A police operation in Toomebridge on February 22, 2026, led to the arrest of two individuals after reports of a man with a firearm. The initial response involved a patrol unit that stopped to engage with a gathering outside a property. The situation escalated as additional officers, including those from the Armed Response Unit (ARU), arrived at the scene. Following inquiries, a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm or imitation firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence. He was also arrested later on suspicion of making threats to kill and is currently in police custody.

During the operation, officers conducted a search of the property and seized a quantity of suspected Class A drugs. A second individual, a 37-year-old man, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled substance. He has since been released on bail to facilitate further police inquiries.
