The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is set to distribute a one-off Christmas Bonus of £10 in December 2025 to individuals receiving certain benefits. This payment, which will not impact existing benefits, is expected to appear on bank statements as “DWP XB.” It aims to provide additional financial support during the festive season.
According to information from Gov.uk, the Christmas Bonus is a tax-free payment intended for individuals who qualify during the designated week, typically the first full week of December. Recipients do not need to apply for the bonus, as it will be paid automatically to eligible individuals.
To qualify for the Christmas Bonus, recipients must be present or “ordinarily resident” in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, or Gibraltar during the qualifying week. Furthermore, individuals must be claiming one of the specified 24 benefits at that time. The payment is designed to be straightforward, ensuring that those who qualify receive their bonus before Christmas.
If recipients do not receive their Christmas Bonus by January 1, 2026, they are advised to reach out to their Jobcentre Plus officer or the Pension Service.
