Children in the reception class at Stradbroke Primary School have been actively participating in a drawing club, where they are encouraged to unleash their creativity through imaginative writing and artwork. Known as Mars Class, the group comprises 14 pupils and is led by teachers Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Varela, with valuable support from teaching assistant Miss Oakes.
The past term was particularly exciting for the children, highlighted by their involvement in a whole school Language & Culture Day. The event offered opportunities for the students to explore diverse cultures and languages, enhancing their learning experience. Additionally, they showcased their talents during the harvest festival by performing The Big Red Combine Harvester, a performance that delighted audiences and fostered a sense of community.
Reflecting on their experiences, Mrs. Hill praised her students for their outstanding performance during their first nativity play in December 2023. “The children were absolutely brilliant,” she stated, noting their remarkable progress across various developmental areas.
This term, the focus for Mars Class has shifted to the season of winter and the transformations it brings. The curriculum aims to engage the children with hands-on activities, encouraging them to observe and reflect on the changes in nature.

As the school continues to foster creativity and a love for learning among its students, the drawing club remains a cherished space where imagination flourishes.
