Tragic Death of Holly Hagan’s Sister Linked to MDMA Overdose

The sister of reality television star Holly Hagan, Darci Rose Gibson, tragically died from multi-organ failure linked to an overdose of MDMA, an inquest has revealed. The 19-year-old passed away on October 20, 2023, following a night out at the popular Warehouse Project nightclub in Manchester, where she reportedly mixed the drug into her drink.

During an inquest at Manchester Coroner’s Court, it was disclosed that toxicology tests revealed “high levels” of MDMA in Darci’s system. The court heard that she suffered a “cardiac arrest” after consuming the substance and was subsequently rushed to Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI). Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her condition two days later.

According to acting senior coroner Zak Golombeck, Darci was admitted to the hospital on October 18 after the cardiac incident. He confirmed that she developed multi-organ failure during her treatment. “There was a suspicion at the time that she had taken illicit drugs,” he stated, adding that this was later verified to medical staff.

The provisional cause of death was determined to be multi-organ failure due to an MDMA overdose. Golombeck noted that toxicology tests on both her blood and urine confirmed the presence of the drug. He also relayed information from a police coroner’s officer, who indicated that Darci had indeed been at the nightclub when she experienced the cardiac arrest.

In the wake of her sister’s passing, Holly Hagan expressed her profound grief, stating she was “traumatised” by the loss. She described the heartbreaking moment when Darci “passed away peacefully holding my hand surrounded by my family and her best friends.”

The inquest into Darci’s death has been adjourned, pending further investigations. Her tragic story highlights the dangers associated with the use of illicit substances, particularly among young people during social outings. As the case unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of drug use.
