The death of influencer Barbara Jankavski, known as Boneca Desumana (“Inhuman Doll”), is now under investigation for potential homicide, following concerns raised by her family. Jankavski, aged 31, had undergone nearly 30 plastic surgeries in her pursuit to resemble a “Human Barbie.” Initially believed to have died from a heart attack linked to cocaine use, new developments have prompted a specialized court to examine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Jankavski’s body was discovered on November 2, 2023, at the home of a prominent lawyer in Sao Paulo. Her family is now seeking to have her exhumed for a second autopsy, hoping to uncover any evidence of foul play. They have expressed doubts about the initial findings, which suggested her injuries resulted from a fall.
Brazilian prosecutors, along with the family’s legal representatives, have raised suspicions of possible violence, noting markings on Jankavski’s neck, legs, and around her eye. The homeowner, Renato de Vitto, aged 51, claimed that Jankavski was hired for a sexual encounter and that they both consumed drugs prior to her death. He asserts that he attempted to revive her for nine minutes before contacting emergency services.
Several witnesses were present at the residence during the incident. One acquaintance of de Vitto suggested that Jankavski may have sustained her injuries from a fall earlier in the night. However, her parents have highlighted significant gaps in the investigation, including the lack of DNA testing on the three individuals who were present and the absence of analysis on their mobile phones.
Jankavski had a public persona, documenting her transformation through social media, where she amassed a following of nearly 57,000. She had previously undergone extensive cosmetic procedures, such as liposuction and rhinoplasty, and had become known for her extravagant surgeries, spending around £42,000 in total. Her dramatic changes had even been featured in television appearances and advertising campaigns.
Following her death, an outpouring of tributes emerged on social media. Fans recalled her vibrant personality, with one follower, Naty Silveira, expressing disbelief over her passing: “I can’t believe it. I loved you so much. Rest in peace.” Another follower added, “I hope God receives you with open arms. You lived a little bit of the life you loved.”
As the investigation continues, Jankavski’s family remains determined to find the truth regarding the circumstances of her untimely death.
