Urgent: Pensioner Killed in Shocking Crash, Driver Charged

UPDATE: A devastating traffic incident in Gillingham, Kent, has resulted in the death of an elderly man after he was struck and carried on the roof of a vehicle for nearly a mile. The shocking crash occurred on the A289 Gads Hill at approximately 12:10 PM on December 29, 2023.

The victim, a man in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities report that he was hit by a grey Mercedes estate driven by Albert Matraxhiu, 28, from North London. Following the collision, the man ended up on the car’s roof, traveling a significant distance before being found on Grange Road, indicating a potential distance of nearly a mile from the point of impact.

Another suspect, Erald Paci, 29, of Chatham, Kent, is charged with perverting the course of justice. Both men are identified as Albanian nationals and are scheduled to appear in court today, January 2, 2024.
