Urgent: Orange Rain Alert Issued for Cork and Kerry Drivers

UPDATE: An orange rain warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry, effective from 3 AM to 6 PM on Sunday, prompting urgent cautions for drivers. The Road Safety Authority (RSA) warns that heavy rainfall could lead to significant flooding and dangerously poor visibility, especially in elevated regions.

As the storm approaches, the RSA is urging all motorists to exercise heightened caution and to monitor local traffic and weather conditions before heading out. The warning comes as part of a broader weather alert, with much of the west coast, including Clare, Limerick, Donegal, and Connacht, facing a yellow rain warning from 6 PM on Saturday through midnight on Sunday.

Additionally, Tipperary, Waterford, and Wexford will be under a yellow rain warning from midnight on Sunday until 3 AM on Monday. The Met Office has also confirmed a yellow rain warning for all of Northern Ireland for Sunday and Monday.

Drivers are advised to prepare for hazardous conditions, including potential river and surface water flooding. The RSA emphasizes the importance of safety on the roads during these extreme weather conditions.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops, and prioritize safety above all when navigating the affected regions.
