Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special Set for December 25

UPDATE: The highly anticipated Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special is set to air on December 25, 2023, featuring six celebrities competing for the coveted Christmas trophy. Just days after Karen Carney clinched the Glitterball trophy in the regular series finale, fans are eager for the festive showdown.

This year’s holiday edition promises to be a dazzling affair, showcasing a winter wonderland theme. Competing for the star-shaped trophy are Scarlett Moffatt, Melanie Blatt, Jodie Ounsley, Nicholas Bailey, Babatunde Aléshé, and Brian McFadden, who expressed heartfelt motivation for participating, driven by his daughter’s passion for the show.

In a recent interview on BBC Breakfast, McFadden revealed, “It was actually my daughter Ruby, she is completely obsessed with Strictly this year. I got the phone call to see if I’d do the Christmas special, and I was like, ‘I have to do it, she’s going to love it’.” Despite his daughter being too young to join him during filming, she will be watching the broadcast alongside millions on Christmas Day.

Viewers can expect an exciting performance as McFadden takes on the Jive with professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas. Initially hesitant about the demanding routine, he shared, “I’m getting a little older now, I’m not fit, so I don’t want to do the Jive because that looks like it’s hectic.” Ultimately, he found the dance better suited him, allowing for more enjoyment.

The special will be hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman for the last time, with the familiar judging panel ready to critique the performances. The winner will be decided by the studio audience votes, adding an extra layer of excitement.

Tune in to watch the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special on BBC One at 5:30 PM on Christmas Day or catch it later on BBC iPlayer. This festive treat is not to be missed!
