He acknowledges the importance of maintaining community ties, saying, “Being in a small community, there is always community ownership of the way a store is.” Changes will be minimal, ensuring the shop retains its core identity that locals have grown to love.
The store will close temporarily for renovations, including new countertops and equipment, aimed at improving operations and customer satisfaction. Scott emphasized, “I want to improve the experience for the consumer and give our scoopers the tools to do their jobs more easily.”
Additionally, Scott will continue running his consulting business, Optimal Ice Cream, which helps smaller ice cream operations scale their manufacturing. This dual focus allows him to blend his passion with his expertise, ensuring that SoCo remains a staple in the community.
Scott, who moved back to Berkshire County with his family for a more balanced lifestyle, is excited about the future of SoCo Creamery. He is committed to enhancing the shop while keeping its essence intact. “We’re not trying to take over the world or change who we are,” he stated, “just focusing on what we do well and trying to make it better.”
