Labour Councillor Investigated for Parking in Disabled Bay

UPDATE: A West London Labour councillor is under investigation after photos surfaced showing his Lamborghini Urus SE parked in disabled bays without a valid blue badge. The incident occurred at Hounslow House, prompting immediate scrutiny from Hounslow Labour.

The images depict the luxury SUV parked illegally on two separate occasions, raising urgent questions about accountability among elected officials. Councillor Farhaan Rehman, who represents Hounslow Heath, has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the matter.

Hounslow Labour confirmed to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) that they are actively investigating the situation, but no findings have been made against Cllr Rehman as of yet. In contrast, the local council noted that if an ordinary citizen were caught in a similar violation, they would face a substantial fixed penalty notice of £160.

This investigation comes just a week after the council issued a hefty £1,000 fine to Loretta Alvarez, a single mother and mental health nurse, for ‘fly-tipping’ when her bins were full. Alvarez expressed her frustration, stating, “If Cllr Rehman has parked in the bays without a blue badge, it would suggest that elected officials think they can act above the law.” Her comments highlight the growing perception of a double standard in enforcement between politicians and regular citizens.

Conservative councillor Jack Emsley has also weighed in, asserting that if Cllr Rehman is found at fault, he should be deselected as a Labour candidate ahead of the 2026 local elections. Emsley emphasized, “Anything less would be an appalling double standard of one rule for Hounslow Labour councillors, and another for everyone else.”

As the investigation unfolds, the implications for Cllr Rehman and Hounslow Labour could be significant. Observers are keen to see whether the party will apply the same strict standards to its members that it expects from the public.
