UPDATE: Celebrity chef Phil Vickery has been confirmed as the headliner for the Bishop Auckland Food Festival, set to take place this April 2024. After a successful appearance last year, Vickery will once again grace the stage alongside fellow culinary stars Shivi Ramoutar and Aaron Mountford-Myles.
With annual attendance reaching approximately 30,000 guests, the festival has become a must-visit event in County Durham. This year’s festival will showcase over 140 independent traders offering an array of food and drink options throughout the weekend. Attendees can also participate in exciting cooking demonstrations led by Vickery, Ramoutar, and Mountford-Myles, with Chris Bavin returning as the host of the cookery theatre.
In addition to the celebrity showcases, renowned chocolatier Paul A. Young will conduct chocolate workshops, including hour-long masterclasses for creating perfect truffles and interactive chocolate adventures on both days of the festival.
Coun Karen Allison expressed enthusiasm about Vickery’s return, stating, “We’re delighted to be welcoming Phil Vickery back for April’s Bishop Auckland Food Festival. Phil has shared his expertise with This Morning viewers for many years, and it’s great to have him back at Bishop Auckland.” She also highlighted the festival’s commitment to providing free activities, acknowledging the financial challenges many face today.
The festival aims to boost local businesses and the economy by drawing visitors to the region. Councillor Allison noted, “We hope that local businesses and our economy once again benefit from increased footfall, as we welcome people to our fabulous county over the weekend.”
