British Airways Boosts Flights from Tirana for Summer 2026

British Airways has announced an increase in its flight operations from Tirana International Airport (TIA) for the summer season of 2026. This expansion aims to enhance connections between Albania and the United Kingdom and responds to the growing demand for travel to Tirana.

Starting in April 2026, British Airways will operate a total of **13 flights per week** from TIA, marking a **44 percent increase** compared to the same period in 2025. This growth aligns with TIA’s ongoing transformation and its emerging role as a pivotal aviation hub in the region.

Infrastructure Expansion at TIA

Tirana International Airport is undergoing significant infrastructure improvements under the management of the Kastrati Group. The airport is expanding its terminal capacity, increasing parking spaces for aircraft, and implementing advanced digital technologies to enhance passenger experience. These investments aim to support rising traffic and provide a modern travel experience.

The frequency increase of British Airways flights has been strategically planned to offer travelers more options. This not only facilitates travel to the United Kingdom but also opens up connections to North America, a sought-after market for Albanian and Western Balkan travelers.

Pier Vittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer at TIA, emphasized the importance of British Airways as a key partner for the Albanian market. He stated, “The expansion of operations at TIA demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing reliable connections, high service standards, and a broad network of destinations for passengers traveling to and from Albania.” Farabbi expressed pride in TIA’s recognition as an airport that strengthens international ties and attracts elite global carriers.

Responding to Passenger Demand

Neil Chernoff, Head of Planning and Strategy at British Airways, noted that Tirana is a popular destination among travelers. He remarked, “We are pleased to respond to this demand by increasing the number of flights for the summer season of 2026. Whether for business, leisure, or reconnecting with loved ones, these additional services will make it easier for travelers to explore all that Albania has to offer.”

Tirana International Airport remains committed to expanding partnerships with airlines, continuously improving the passenger experience, and enhancing Albania’s position on the international aviation map. With strategic investments, modern technology, and a clear development vision, TIA is positioning itself as one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing airports in the region.

British Airways, as the national carrier of the United Kingdom, operates flights to over **200 destinations** in more than **65 countries**, including routes serviced by its partners. The airline proudly offers more flights from London to international destinations than any other carrier, providing passengers access to one of the world’s most extensive flight networks, both domestic and international, with connections to major airports at convenient times. British Airways operates from three primary London airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, and London City.
