Authorities in Herceg Novi have arrested two men suspected of attempting to kidnap a Bosnian citizen on the night of February 7, 2026. The suspects, identified as M.Š., 25, from Bijelo Polje, and M.Z., 30, from Novi Sad, both citizens of Serbia, allegedly attacked the victim while he was staying at a residence in Sutorina.
The incident unfolded shortly after midnight when police received a call from a local homeowner. The homeowner reported that two individuals had assaulted a tenant, a Bosnian national, and had fled the scene shortly thereafter. Police quickly mobilized and initiated a search for the suspects.
According to the police statement, officers from the Herceg Novi Security Department undertook a series of tactical measures. These efforts led to the rapid identification and apprehension of M.Š. and M.Z., who were found in a vehicle nearby.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had forcibly entered the victim’s apartment in Sutorina. Once inside, they allegedly assaulted him, striking him multiple times with closed fists while he was in bed. M.Š. reportedly placed a cloth over the victim’s mouth as M.Z. continued to hit him. The two men then stole two mobile phones and €100 from the victim.
Their plan to abduct the victim was thwarted when the homeowner intervened, warning the suspects that he would call the police. Following this confrontation, M.Š. and M.Z. fled the scene in their vehicle.
After receiving the alert, police were able to locate and stop the suspects. They were taken into custody at the Herceg Novi Security Department. The victim sustained minor injuries during the attack.
The case has been reported to the relevant prosecutor’s office. It has been noted that both suspects failed to register their stay in Montenegro within the legal timeframe. As such, they may face additional legal actions under the Law on Foreigners following the prosecutor’s measures.
This incident highlights ongoing security concerns in the region, as local law enforcement continues to address various criminal activities.
