Police officials from the Sector for the Fight Against Crime, in collaboration with the Regional Security Center “Center”, have successfully thwarted a planned criminal act linked to organized crime in Montenegro. During intensified operations in Podgorica, authorities detained four individuals, including a member of a high-risk organized crime group from northern Montenegro.
Among those apprehended was D.L., aged 35, who was found in possession of fake police uniforms. During a vehicle inspection, officers discovered two black jackets bearing the word “POLICE,” several black clothing items, four emblems featuring the coat of arms of Montenegro, and tools intended for overcoming physical obstacles. The vehicle was registered in Podgorica.
In a simultaneous operation, another individual, identified as B.V., aged 29, was also stopped while driving a vehicle with Berane registration. Both vehicles were seized for further legal verification.
Police conducted searches of the residences associated with D.L. and B.V., leading to the confiscation of electronic devices, including a mobile phone equipped with cryptocurrency protection. Authorities also recovered a vehicle suspected of having a manipulated chassis number, which will undergo further investigation.
According to police reports, it is believed that these individuals employed counter-surveillance measures to conceal their movements and evade detection. They reportedly used multiple rented vehicles throughout the day.
These operations are part of a broader strategy to dismantle criminal networks operating in the region. Authorities are taking these measures seriously, as they suspect a specific target was planned for an attack, although details remain undisclosed pending further investigation. The public will be informed as new developments arise.
The detained individuals are already recorded in police databases for serious crimes, including violent offenses and illegal possession of weapons, as well as crimes related to property and economic criminality, according to the police department.
The coordinated efforts of law enforcement have been pivotal in preventing these planned criminal activities, highlighting the ongoing commitment to combat organized crime in Montenegro.
