Airdrie Appoints Aaron Taylor-Sinclair as Manager and New Director of Football

Airdrieonians has announced the permanent appointment of Aaron Taylor-Sinclair as the club’s manager, effective immediately as the team enters the new year. The 34-year-old defender has been serving as player/caretaker manager since October 2025, following the dismissal of Danny Lennon. He briefly held the position in August when Rhys McCabe resigned. Taylor-Sinclair’s leadership has resulted in a resurgence for the club, moving them off the bottom of the Championship standings and improving their performance.

“I’m delighted to get everything sorted, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to lead the club going forward,” Taylor-Sinclair said in a statement. He expressed appreciation for the positive response from players, staff, and supporters during his time as caretaker. “I look forward to continuing the hard work and hopefully seeing more success as we move into the new year,” he added.

New Director of Football Joins the Team

In conjunction with Taylor-Sinclair’s appointment, Airdrieonians has also named Alan Gow as the new director of football. Gow, a former player for Falkirk and Rangers, will take on this pivotal role within the organization. A club statement confirmed that Taylor-Sinclair’s long-term contract has been finalized, solidifying his position as head coach while also detailing Gow’s new responsibilities.

The board expressed enthusiasm about the management team’s collaboration, stating, “Aided by coaches David Hutton and Bryan Prunty, and working in tandem with Director of Football Alan Gow, we are thrilled that Aaron will continue as Head Coach on a permanent basis as we head into 2026.”

The Diamonds will kick off their first match of the year on January 2, 2026, when they welcome Raith Rovers to New Broomfield. This match will serve as a crucial test for Taylor-Sinclair as he aims to steer the team toward a successful season. With the backing of the board and the enthusiasm of the club’s supporters, Airdrieonians looks to build on the momentum generated during the latter part of the previous year.
