Jeep Unveils One-Off Avenger Stargazer Inspired by Night Sky

Jeep has launched a unique concept vehicle, the Avenger Stargazer, designed to inspire interest in stargazing and the night sky. This one-off creation follows a survey of 2,000 adults conducted by the American automaker, which revealed that 32 percent of participants feel their knowledge of the night sky is insufficient, while 73 percent expressed a desire to learn more about it.

The Avenger Stargazer is a collaboration with the stargazing organization DarkSky UK. It features an innovative telescope integrated into the sunroof and a custom-built cabinet in the boot, capable of storing essential stargazing equipment. This includes the telescope, its mount, binoculars, red-light head torches, touch-screen gloves, and weatherproof clothing, all aimed at enhancing the outdoor experience for users.

The vehicle’s exterior showcases a striking reflective wrap that depicts various celestial elements. On the left side, a beautiful representation of star clusters, the Milky Way, and the planet Saturn is displayed. The right side features the Andromeda galaxy, planet Jupiter, and Ursa Major, while the Earth and Moon are artistically portrayed on the bonnet of the car.

Kris Cholmondeley, managing director of Jeep UK, commented on the project, stating, “At Jeep, outdoor exploration and freedom are at the heart of what we do. Through this collaboration, we hope to encourage people to get outside and to look up at the night sky, as well as take measures to reduce their light pollution.”

Although the Avenger Stargazer is a one-off model, the standard version of the Avenger is available for purchase, offering customers a choice of petrol, hybrid, and electric powertrains. This initiative by Jeep not only highlights the brand’s commitment to outdoor exploration but also aims to foster a greater appreciation for astronomy among the public.

As interest in stargazing continues to grow, Jeep’s innovative approach with the Avenger Stargazer serves as a reminder of the beauty above us and the importance of preserving the natural night sky.
