Silverburn in Glasgow Named UK’s Best Shopping Centre for 2025

A shopping centre in Glasgow has been awarded the title of the best retail destination in the UK for 2025. The accolade comes from the prestigious SCEPTRE Awards, often referred to as the “Oscars of retail.” Silverburn, which opened in 2007, offers a diverse array of over 100 shops, cafés, and restaurants, making it a go-to destination for shoppers and families alike.

Located in Pollok, Silverburn spans more than one million square feet and has recently undergone a strategic transformation that has significantly enhanced its appeal. According to the SCEPTRE Awards judging panel, Silverburn has achieved record-breaking results over the past 18 months, solidifying its status as one of Scotland’s most dynamic retail and leisure hubs.

Expansion and Diverse Offerings

The shopping centre boasts a variety of renowned brands, including Boots, H&M, New Look, and Pandora. Recently, Silverburn has welcomed several new additions, such as Black Sheep Coffee, Hollister, and H Beauty by Harrods, alongside the first standalone Haribo store in Scotland. The complex is also set to see the opening of Oliver Bonas in a spacious 5,759 square foot unit adjacent to JD Sports.

Food options continue to expand, with Wingstop scheduled to open by December, complementing existing favorites like Nando’s, Wagamama, and Krispy Kreme. This variety has made Silverburn a popular destination for both local residents and visitors.

Recognition and Community Impact

Silverburn’s triumph comes in a competitive landscape, beating out notable contenders such as Bluewater in Kent, which received a “highly commended” mention for its sustainability initiatives. Other competitors included Trinity Walk in Wakefield and Stamford Quarter in Altrincham. Victoria in Leeds was named the runner-up, celebrated for its striking glass-roofed Victorian structure housing both high street and designer brands.

David Pierotti, general manager of Silverburn, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “This win, alongside record-breaking customer numbers, is a testament to the dedication of our incredible team and partners, who have worked tirelessly over the past 18 months to transform Silverburn into something truly special.” He emphasized the centre’s commitment to being more than just a shopping venue, aiming to create a community hub that supports local employment and contributes to the growth of Glasgow.

Earlier this year, Silverburn also secured the award for “Best Performing Large Business” at the Glasgow Business Awards, further underscoring its significant role in the local economy.

With its impressive array of shops, dining options, and continued commitment to community engagement, Silverburn stands out as a leading retail destination in the UK, poised to attract even more visitors in the years to come.
