Goran Popović Duks has unveiled his latest poetry collection, titled “Ćilim od snova” (Carpet of Dreams), which marks his eleventh standalone book and sixth dedicated to children. Released by the Literary Community “Vladimir Mijušković” in Nikšić, this collection invites young readers into a vibrant world filled with dreams, science, imagination, and tender verses.
The author expressed his hope that “Ćilim od snova” serves as a poetic space woven from warmth, childhood, and enchanting nights under the starry sky. Each poem is designed to take young audiences on a unique, miniature journey. In a statement, he emphasized that the collection reflects a blend of scientific concepts with the whimsical nature of childhood, as it explores themes that resonate with modern realities.
Dr. Nina Radulović, a prominent figure in children’s literature, praised the collection for opening a new niche in the genre. She highlighted how it diverges from traditional motifs and terminology, presenting contemporary scientific ideas such as atoms, galaxies, and the laws of gravity in a manner accessible to children. Radulović noted that young readers can engage with these concepts through Popović’s poetry, while also nurturing their imaginative spirit.
She remarked, “Popović remains true to the ‘child within’ who runs barefoot with a smile wider than the sky and a heart larger than life.” The collection does not shy away from the vivid imagery that children adore, including the colors of rainbows, the taste of chocolate, and the atmosphere of forests.
Jovan Drašković, a literary figure and secretary of the Literary Community “Vladimir Mijušković,” described “Ćilim od snova” as a carefully crafted poetic garland. He noted how Popović guides young readers through realms of science, nature, and dreams. From atoms and electricity to starry galaxies, the collection opens up a new, wondrous world that sparks curiosity and a thirst for knowledge among children.
The book’s release aligns with a growing interest in contemporary children’s poetry that bridges the gap between learning and imagination. As young readers explore the themes presented in “Ćilim od snova”, they may find themselves inspired to dream bigger and understand the world around them in new and exciting ways.
Through this collection, Goran Popović Duks not only contributes to the literary landscape but also encourages a generation of young minds to embrace both their dreams and the wonders of science.
