The Assembly of Prijestonica Cetinje has unanimously approved a budget for 2026, amounting to €17.1 million. This decision, made during a session today, reflects an increase in funding, as indicated by the Secretary of the Secretariat for Finance and Economic Development, Savo Borozan. The enhanced budget aims to facilitate the realization of a long-term loan intended for the improvement of the water supply system in Cetinje.
The planned withdrawal of €2 million will fund the costs of project design, execution of works, and professional supervision related to the enhancement of the water supply system. Additionally, the budget includes capital grants of €700,000, which will be allocated to the municipality from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) to support this initiative.
In addition to maintaining existing services and managing current obligations, the budget outlines new social and child protection services. The Assembly highlights initiatives such as free kindergarten, medically assisted reproduction, and financial support for childbirth. It also plans to subsidize part of the rental costs for young married couples and provide assistance for water supply costs to households in social need.
The Assembly emphasizes that the budget will also cover provisions for free transportation for elderly citizens and the continuation of the gerontology program in collaboration with the Red Cross. There are plans for professional assistance for individuals dealing with substance abuse, as well as financing for a newly established service called “Health House.” Special attention will be given to preventive programs and support for those in social distress.
For the purpose of investment maintenance of residential buildings, €170,000 has been earmarked to support the adaptation of facades and roofs, in accordance with the Law on Condominium Ownership and the Public Call.
With this budget, the Prijestonica Cetinje aims to ensure a stable framework for its operations and the implementation of planned activities in the coming period.
