In an exciting collaboration, Tom Morello, the legendary guitarist of Rage Against The Machine, has teamed up with Caleb Shomo, the vocalist of Beartooth, to create a new anthem for the popular MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV. The track, titled “Everything Burns,” is set to debut alongside the game’s latest update on December 16, 2025.
The upcoming patch will introduce a new Arcadion raid dungeon, which promises to elevate the gaming experience for players. The official description outlines a thrilling challenge: “With the cruiserweight division conquered, the unstoppable upstart now rises into the fearsome heights of the heavyweight tier.” Players must face the looming threat of psychonekrosis and claim the grand champion’s crown to ascend to new heights.
Morello expressed his enthusiasm for the project on social media, stating, “Very excited to announce that I’ve been working on something very special with the team at Final Fantasy XIV.” He revealed that the collaboration originated from Masayoshi Soken, the game’s composer, who is a devoted fan of Rage Against The Machine. Morello remarked that he aimed to create a track that matched the energy and intensity of the game: “We wanted to make something super heavy and super powerful.”
Soken, who is known for his innovative approach to video game music, has previously mentioned that the combination of rock music and the Final Fantasy experience feels natural. In a statement earlier this year, he said, “I don’t know why Final Fantasy matches so well with that type of music, but to me, it felt like the game experience was asking for rock.”
The new track “Everything Burns” will be available for streaming following the patch release, and fans can anticipate a powerful listening experience that complements the challenges of the new raid.
In addition to the new music, the update will also introduce a new quest titled “Into The Mist.” This quest will follow the journey of Krile as she confronts her past in the nation of Alexandria, which has recently been freed from chaos. The official description states, “As the nation’s people begin to move forward, so too must the Warrior of Light’s companions.”
Morello, reflecting on his journey with Rage Against The Machine, noted that the band has always been “a volatile situation.” He shared his pride in their accomplishments: “The fact that we got four great records, the fact that we played shows in 2022… We finished with five sold-out nights at Madison Square Garden. So if there’s never another show, then that’s quite a way to go out.”
As anticipation builds for the new raid and the accompanying music, fans of both the game and the artists can look forward to a unique blend of gaming and rock music that promises to deliver an unforgettable experience.
