Todd Snider Cancels Tour Following Violent Assault, Arrest

Country musician Todd Snider has cancelled his current tour after sustaining serious injuries as a result of a violent assault. The 59-year-old singer announced the cancellation through his social media channels, expressing regret for the disruption to fans following the incident outside his hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The tour, named High, Lonesome and Then Some… 2025 Tour, had recently begun with a performance in Englewood, Colorado. Snider was scheduled to perform at the Commonwealth Room in Salt Lake City before the attack occurred. Following the incident, a statement was posted, stating, “We are heartbroken to announce the cancellation of the High, Lonesome and Then Some 2025 Tour dates. Todd sustained severe injuries as the victim of a violent assault.”

As a result of the injuries, Snider will be unable to perform for an undetermined amount of time. The statement continued, “We deeply apologise for the cancellation and any inconvenience it causes. We appreciate your understanding as Todd receives needed medical treatment. We hope to have more information on new dates soon.”

Shortly after the cancellation announcement, reports emerged that Snider had been arrested in Salt Lake City. According to Salt Lake County jail records, he was taken into custody on November 2, 2023, at approximately 19:10 and released just before 03:00 the following day. He was released without bail but signed a promise to appear in court.

Police confirmed they are investigating an alleged assault involving a 59-year-old male at the venue where Snider was set to perform. Following the attack, Snider received treatment at Holy Cross Hospital but reportedly left against medical advice. He later returned to the hospital, reportedly expressing grievances and making threats towards staff, leading to further legal complications.

Detective Michael Ruff from the Salt Lake City police stated, “He returned to the hospital and made threats that he was going to assault members of the staff.” Snider faces charges of disorderly conduct, trespassing, and making a violent threat.

The cancellation is particularly poignant as Snider had only recently returned to touring after a three-year hiatus due to health issues related to spinal stenosis. This condition causes significant back and neck pain, complicating his ability to perform. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Snider expressed his desire for this tour to be enjoyable, stating, “I told my team that I want this tour to be the funnest one. After that, I may just have to do one show at a time, but that’s been coming for a while.”

Snider’s music career began in 1994 with the release of his debut album, Songs for the Daily Planet, and he has since produced 19 additional records. His upcoming tour included stops in major cities such as Phoenix, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle.

The news of Snider’s assault and subsequent arrest has sparked concern among fans and the music community. Many are awaiting further updates regarding his health and potential future performances. As the situation develops, representatives for Snider have been contacted for additional comments.
