Sarah J. Maas Announces Two New ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ Books

Best-selling fantasy author Sarah J. Maas has officially confirmed the release of two new books in her acclaimed series, A Court of Thorns and Roses. The sixth installment is set to be published on October 27, 2026, followed by the seventh book on January 12, 2027. This announcement marks the end of a five-year wait since the last book, A Court of Silver Flames, was released in 2021.

During a live interview on the podcast Call Her Daddy with host Alex Cooper, Maas expressed her excitement about returning to the beloved world of her characters. The interview attracted over 166,000 viewers and covered various topics, including her writing process and personal insights. Maas noted that it took her considerable time to find the right direction for the new narratives, stating, “It took me a while to find the right story and the right headspace.” Once she settled on the themes, the writing came together quickly.

While the publication dates have been confirmed, Maas chose not to disclose the titles or cover designs of the upcoming books. She also refrained from revealing which character’s perspective the new stories will explore, suggesting that the chosen narrator might surprise her readers. Bloomsbury Publishing, Maas’s publisher, echoed her enthusiasm, stating that fans can anticipate “romance, danger and intrigue” with the series’ return.

The forthcoming titles will be the first new releases in over five years, marking the longest gap between entries in the series since its inception in 2015. The A Court of Thorns and Roses novels follow the journey of Feyre Archeron, who navigates a complex relationship with a powerful faerie ally. The series has seen a surge in popularity, particularly on social media platforms like TikTok, where the #BookTok community has played a crucial role in reviving interest in fantasy romance.

Last year, anticipation for the new installments grew when Maas hinted at her progress on social media. In a July 2025 Instagram post, she shared a photo of a notebook labeled “ACOTAR 6” with the caption, “First drafts DONE,” generating excitement among her dedicated fanbase.

Across her three major series—Throne of Glass, Crescent City, and A Court of Thorns and Roses—Maas has sold over 70 million copies of her books in English worldwide. This remarkable achievement solidifies her position as one of the most influential authors in the modern fantasy romance genre.

As fans eagerly await the new installments, the excitement surrounding Maas’s work continues to grow, marking a significant moment in contemporary literature.
