The fifth edition of the Festival for the Promotion of Young Talents concluded in Kolasin, Montenegro, on January 15, 2024, with a performance by renowned musician Damir Urban. This cultural event has successfully highlighted emerging musical talent in the region, marking a significant milestone in its five years of continuous operation.
Organized by a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting young artists, the festival was conducted in collaboration with the Center for Culture Kolasin, the Municipality of Kolasin, and the Kolasin Tourist Organization. The event received support from the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro, as noted by festival organizer Dražen Joković.
A key focus of this year’s festival was the Winter School for Talents, aimed at nurturing promising young guitarists from Montenegro. Participants benefited from a three-day educational program led by respected pedagogues from the region, including Professor Aleksandar Hadži-Đorđević and Professor Srđan Tošić, both affiliated with the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade. The culmination of their efforts was showcased during a final concert featuring the students of the school.
In addition to the educational component, the festival presented a diverse concert program. It launched with a performance by the distinguished Montenegrin guitar duo Bulatović–Nikčević, alongside percussionist Miloš Knežević. The event was rounded off by Damir Urban, whose closing concert delivered a powerful artistic message and left attendees energized.
The overarching goal of the festival is to promote young artists, bridge the gap between education and concert practice, and enrich Kolasin’s cultural offerings. It provides a platform for a variety of musical content that appeals to diverse audiences, ensuring that the festival remains an integral part of Montenegro’s cultural landscape.
Joković summed up the festival’s mission by stating, “Our aim is to connect educational initiatives with performance opportunities, enriching the cultural life of Kolasin through quality musical experiences.” As the festival wraps up another successful year, it continues to be a beacon for aspiring musicians and a celebration of artistic expression.
