Keira Knightley Reveals Relationship Ultimatum Over Cheese Habit

A-list actress Keira Knightley recently shared an intriguing anecdote about her early relationship with now-husband James Righton, revealing that she nearly ended their romance due to his unusual eating habits. Knightley, known for her role in the holiday classic Love Actually, explained that Righton’s diet was limited to cheese on toast, prompting her to issue an ultimatum about their future together.

During an appearance on the Dish podcast, the 40-year-old actress candidly expressed her frustration, stating, “He just couldn’t cook — all he ate was cheese on toast.” She further elaborated on Righton’s reluctance to explore culinary options, noting, “I was like, ‘This is not going to work’. He wouldn’t even go out for dinner. He didn’t understand going to restaurants. He was bizarre.”

In an effort to broaden his palate, Knightley and a close friend took it upon themselves to guide Righton through the world of dining. “We basically trained him,” she said, recalling how they would encourage him to try new dishes with his eyes closed. “He was like a child,” she remarked, describing how he would initially resist trying anything new. “He’d be like ‘OK, it’s nice, it’s nice!’”

The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, seems to have overcome this culinary hurdle. Knightley’s humorous recollections about their early days reflect the couple’s playful dynamic, which has undoubtedly contributed to their lasting relationship.

In addition to her candid relationship insights, Knightley recently discussed her experience filming Love Actually, revealing that she has only watched the film once since its release in 2003. She has largely forgotten her lines, attributing this to a “delete button” in her mind. “When fans ask me about it, I can’t recall,” she admitted.

Knightley was just 17 when she portrayed Juliet, a character who discovers her husband’s best friend, Mark, played by Andrew Lincoln, harbors a secret crush on her. The film’s poignant storyline culminates in a memorable scene where Mark confesses his feelings to Juliet using cue cards. Ultimately, Juliet remains with her husband, Peter, portrayed by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

As their relationship continues to thrive, Knightley’s humorous anecdotes about Righton’s food preferences and her reflections on Love Actually showcase the actress’s charm and relatability, further endearing her to fans around the world.
