Top Students at University of Montenegro Recognized with €500 Awards

Twenty-eight exceptional students from the University of Montenegro’s Faculty of Economics received awards of €500 each, sponsored by the Montenegrin Commercial Bank, in recognition of their academic excellence. This initiative underscores the value of hard work and commitment, reinforcing the idea that academic success is rooted in responsibility and core values. The awards ceremony for the academic year 2024/25 was organized by the Faculty of Economics and its Alumni Club, with the bank acting as a key sponsor.

During the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Prof. Dr. Mijat Jocovic, emphasized that knowledge remains the most profitable investment and the foundation for societal advancement. He noted that these awards celebrate students who excelled in the previous academic year through their dedication, ambition, discipline, and ethical standards.

“Excellence is not just about high grades; it involves responsibility, ethical standards, empathy, and the courage to persevere in difficult times,” remarked Jocovic. He expressed pride not only in the students’ academic achievements but also in the values they promote within the faculty.

In his address, the Chair of the University of Montenegro’s Board, Prof. Dr. Milivoje Radovic, highlighted that success is not predetermined by algorithms but is cultivated through community, trust, and humanity. He urged students to view the awards as a stepping stone in their journeys rather than the ultimate goal.

“Life is full of challenges, and when faced with them, always remember to be human first, not just economists,” Radovic stated, reinforcing the importance of collective support in achieving long-term success.

Representing the Montenegrin Commercial Bank, Nemanja Đurašković, Director of Marketing, Communications, and CRM, shared his gratitude for participating in the scholarship awards. He reflected on the importance of returning to one’s roots and recognized the profound impact that knowledge can have on both personal and societal levels.

“The scholarships awarded today are more than just recognition; they symbolize trust in young people’s potential and ambition,” said Đurašković. He affirmed that the best students already possess intrinsic motivation, emphasizing the bank’s role in supporting them through their academic and professional journeys.

Winners included Andrijana Šekularac, who received an award for achieving a perfect average of 10.00 after her first year. She expressed that the recognition validates her hard work and inspires her to continue striving for excellence.

“It is a strong motivation for my continued development and finding my place in society,” said Šekularac.

Another award recipient, Milica Vujosevic, also celebrated for achieving a perfect average after two years of study, echoed similar sentiments. She appreciated the partnership with the Montenegrin Commercial Bank, which enabled students to receive such recognition.

The awards recognized outstanding achievements across various categories, including first-year students and those completing their studies in both applied and English language programs. A total of 28 students were honored for their exceptional performance, underscoring the commitment of the University of Montenegro to academic excellence and community support.

This event illustrates the significant role of educational institutions and corporate partnerships in fostering the next generation of leaders and professionals in Montenegro.
