Hampshire Approves £14.4 Million Hartland Village Primary School

Hampshire County Council has approved the construction of a new primary school in Fleet, set to cost £14.4 million. The Hartland Village Primary School is designed to accommodate up to 420 students and is scheduled to open its doors in September 2027.

The school will include 14 classrooms, a main hall, a studio, a learning resource centre, a kitchen, and accommodation for staff. Outdoor facilities are planned to enhance the educational experience, featuring hardstanding areas for informal play, dedicated play courts, and ample parking. The project will provide a total of 34 standard parking spaces, two accessible bays, and four electric vehicle charging points.

To address environmental concerns, the school will be equipped with an air-source heat pump heating system, complemented by solar panels on the roof, aiming to reduce carbon emissions significantly.

On January 21, Cllr Roz Chadd, the cabinet member for children’s services, expressed enthusiasm for the project. “I am now excited to approve the spend for Hartland Village Primary School, which marks another important milestone in our ongoing rollout of new school places to meet rising demand in areas of significant growth,” she stated.

The management of Hartland Village Primary School will be handled by The Circle Trust, which is known for its commitment to providing quality education. The school plans to welcome its first cohort of 30 pupils into the Reception class, with student numbers expected to increase each year as it grows into a full primary institution.

This initiative is part of the broader Hartland Village development, a significant housing project on the outskirts of Fleet. Once completed, this project will deliver approximately 1,500 new homes, illustrating a continuing effort to meet the needs of a growing community.

The Hartland Village Primary School not only aims to enhance educational opportunities in the area but also represents a strategic response to the increasing demand for school places as Fleet continues to expand. With its focus on sustainability and quality, the school is poised to become a vital asset in the region’s educational landscape.
