Albanian Forum Proposes Annual Supplement to Social Council Agenda

The Albanian Forum has announced its readiness to place an initiative regarding an annual supplement on the agenda of the Social Council. This announcement comes alongside a comprehensive legislative package aimed at bolstering the revenue side of the country’s budget. The party, which positions itself as a responsible political entity, outlined its proposals for several tax-related laws, including amendments to the Value Added Tax (VAT) Law, the Law on Administrative Fees, and the Tax Administration Law.

These proposed changes would impose obligations on large international digital platforms through VAT requirements and a special digital tax. The Albanian Forum expressed confidence that these laws are fully prepared for parliamentary procedure and adequately cover the costs associated with the annual supplement.

Earlier today, members of the parliamentary club from the Movement for Europe Now (PES) communicated to their coalition partner, Đeljošaj, the necessity of aligning their initiative with the Social Council, of which they are also a member. They reported having a clear proposal for both expenditures and revenues. If the issue revolves around formal sponsorship, the Albanian Forum indicated a willingness to allow another parliamentary club to present the laws instead of themselves.

The party emphasized that the identity of the proposer is not as important as improving the standard of living for citizens. They stated, “We want to clearly convey that members of parliament are not anyone’s property, including that of Nika Đeljošaj. They have their own name and surname, their political authority, and responsibility to the citizens.” Currently, the Albanian Forum holds two seats in the Montenegrin Assembly.

All proposed measures have been aligned with taxation practices observed in European Union countries and represent standards in contemporary tax systems. The Albanian Forum acknowledged that if there is currently no readiness to implement these measures this year, they could consider their application for the next year. However, they maintain that it is responsible to adopt and implement these measures now.

“The Assembly of Montenegro is the only body where laws are decided upon, either by voting for or against them,” the Albanian Forum declared. They refrained from further commenting on the personal criticisms directed at their leader but noted that such an approach speaks volumes about political maturity.
