URGENT UPDATE: A shooting incident in the center of Nikšić has left two men injured, prompting immediate police action. Authorities confirm that around 22:30 tonight, an unknown assailant opened fire in a local café, injuring Andrija Marković and Milo Jovanović.
The victims were swiftly transported to the Medical Center in Nikšić for urgent medical treatment. As police begin their investigation, they have established a perimeter around the scene and blocked access to the area in an effort to gather information and locate the shooter.
“Police are taking intensive measures to identify the perpetrator and determine all circumstances surrounding the use of firearms,”
stated the Police Directorate. While both injured men are known to be connected to an organized crime group, authorities have not confirmed any link between the shooting and organized crime activities at this time.
This incident marks a significant escalation in violence within the city, sparking concerns among local residents. Earlier this year, one of the injured parties had previously been involved in a confrontation with fan groups at another establishment in Nikšić, which led to his detention.
As the investigation unfolds, the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica has been notified. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, as they work to clarify the motives behind this alarming event.
Residents are advised to stay vigilant as police continue their operations. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
