Mumbai Airport Unveils Urgent Support for Stranded Passengers

UPDATE: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has just announced an urgent support plan for passengers stranded due to widespread flight cancellations by IndiGo Airlines. The measures aim to alleviate the stress and discomfort faced by travelers amid ongoing operational delays.

In a significant response to the crisis, airport authorities are implementing a range of immediate assistance measures. From free refreshments to additional seating across both terminals, the airport is focused on enhancing passenger comfort during this challenging time.

The airport has also deployed extra duty terminal managers and customer service representatives to ensure travelers receive prompt assistance. These teams are actively guiding stranded passengers and addressing their needs, with food and beverage outlets instructed to maintain adequate stock at fair prices.

To streamline the travel experience, dedicated exit gates have been set up for affected passengers, manned by terminal operations staff and airline representatives. 24-hour help desks are now operational across the terminals, providing timely and accurate information. Flight Information Display Systems are being updated in real-time to keep travelers informed, despite slow updates from airlines.

Additionally, the airport has formed a special baggage retrieval taskforce, comprising teams from terminal operations and IndiGo. This group is dedicated to quickly returning checked baggage from canceled flights to minimize further inconvenience for passengers.

In light of the significant operational challenges, the airport has managed to allocate special parking for approximately 25 grounded IndiGo aircraft. Extra traffic marshals are also on site to ensure smooth vehicle flow and assist with passenger movement in the crowded areas.

Authorities stress that maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards is a top priority. With additional housekeeping staff deployed, the airport is committed to ensuring all facilities, including female washrooms and baby care areas, meet high hygiene standards throughout the day.

As the situation continues to evolve, passengers are encouraged to stay informed through the airport’s communication channels. This urgent support initiative reflects the airport’s commitment to passenger care during unforeseen disruptions.
