Jezero Thrives in Domestic League and Cup Competition

Jezero is experiencing a productive season as it stabilizes its position in the league and advances in the cup competition. Currently sitting in the middle of the table with 23 points, the team has successfully reached the semifinals of the cup, showcasing its potential as a formidable opponent in domestic football.

Under the guidance of Miodrag Džudović, the head coach, and the support of club president Ervin Tošić, Jezero has transformed into a tough competitor. The team, having struggled to assemble a squad at the start of preparations last summer, has displayed resilience and tactical prowess. “The situation is okay regarding the table. We are satisfied with our position and points,” said Đorđe Maksimović, a 26-year-old striker. “However, we regret some matches where we deserved more based on our performance.”

As Jezero progresses in the cup, Maksimović expressed pride in the team’s achievement. “I know how much this means to the people in the club and our supporters. It is wonderful to see Jezero reach the semifinals. We will strive to maintain this momentum until the final.” With aspirations to reclaim a trophy, he added, “We always believed in what we are doing. While we have not yet resolved everything, we are on the right path to becoming the surprise of the season.”

The team from the north has shown impressive form, going through a streak of six matches without a loss. Despite facing challenges, such as poor pitch conditions due to rain, Jezero has maintained consistency in its performances. “The coaching staff, led by Džudović, is doing a fantastic job. Our analysis of opponents significantly helps our approach to matches,” Maksimović noted, acknowledging that the state of the playing surfaces has impacted their game strategy.

Looking ahead, Jezero faces a critical juncture with two home matches before the winter break. The team will host Mornar on November 25 and then Budućnost four days later. “We will approach both matches seriously and give our best. While we are at home in Berane, we take nothing for granted. The league is unpredictable, with narrow margins between teams,” Maksimović stated. He emphasized respect for both opponents, noting, “They deserve to be at the top, but we relish these encounters. We want to finish the autumn season on a high note and distance ourselves further from the relegation zone, which we currently sit five points above.”

Last season, Maksimović played a supporting role, often contributing from the bench. This year, he has emerged as a key player, currently sharing the top spot in the scoring charts with Balša Sekulić of Mornar, having netted eight goals. “A striker relies heavily on teammates and the style of play. I enjoy this role and am grateful for everything. I do not focus on the race for top scorer; the most important thing is our team achieving desired results,” he asserted.

As for the future, Maksimović, who has a contract until the summer, remains focused on current challenges. “We will discuss the future when the time is right. For now, my attention is on the pitch and our two strong rivals,” he concluded, leaving fans eager to see if he can find the net against Mornar and Budućnost.
