West Northamptonshire Council’s School Admission Team has initiated a public consultation aimed at gathering opinions on the admissions arrangements for Council-managed schools. This initiative also includes mainstream schools whose admission authorities have requested WNC to coordinate their consultations. The primary goal is to inform residents about potential changes to school admission policies and to ensure that these modifications undergo proper consultation.
Cllr Kathryn Shaw, the Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education at WNC, emphasized the importance of community input. “I really encourage parents, carers, and guardians with children in primary or secondary school to share their views in this consultation,” she stated. She highlighted that getting school place allocations right is crucial and that the insights of those directly affected are vital in shaping the admission arrangements for the 2027 academic year.
The consultation is scheduled to close at midnight on 31 December 2025. Following this period, WNC and other relevant admission authorities will assess the feedback received before finalizing their proposed admission arrangements for the upcoming school year.
Residents interested in participating can find a list of schools included in this year’s consultation and submit their responses by visiting the WNC website. This outreach reflects the council’s commitment to engaging with the community and ensuring that the voices of families are heard in crucial educational matters. The emphasis on transparency and public participation is intended to foster trust and cooperation between the council and local residents.
