FK Budućnost, a prominent football club in Montenegro, has mutually agreed to terminate contracts with players Lionel Strumija and Sadok Kadida. The decision, announced by the club, follows a determination by the sports department that neither player met the quality required for the first team.
Both Strumija, 33, from Argentina, and Kadida, 21, from Tunisia, joined the club as significant signings during the summer transfer window. They were expected to enhance the team’s performance but ultimately did not fulfill the anticipated potential, leading to a friendly parting of ways. Following discussions, the players accepted a settlement of three monthly salaries as part of the contract termination.
In a statement, Predrag Kažić, the club’s executive director, outlined the circumstances surrounding the departures. He noted that the players were brought in under substantial contracts, and the lack of a transfer protocol at the time resulted in their contributions being more detrimental than beneficial to the club.
Kažić explained, “After receiving consent and the professional opinion of the sporting director and coaching staff, it became clear that they would not be part of our plans moving forward. With approval from the Board of Directors, I initiated negotiations to terminate their professional contracts, ensuring financial and legal considerations were appropriately addressed.”
As a result of the contract termination, the club saved over €250,000. This financial relief is significant for FK Budućnost, especially as it moves forward with plans for better management of player contracts.
Future Contract Management and Transparency
To prevent similar issues in the future, Kažić emphasized the club’s commitment to restructuring its contract management process. He announced that FK Budućnost will conduct a thorough analysis of all existing contracts signed under previous administrations. The aim is to create a more transparent and effective framework for future player agreements.
Kažić stated, “We are entering a process to organize all professional contracts and ensure transparent operations. We are also preparing to sign new professional contracts with players, ensuring that both the club and players are protected from bonuses and harmful clauses.”
This proactive approach reflects the club’s dedication to respecting its history and significance in both Podgorica and Montenegro. Kažić reiterated that no individual will be above the club in its operations moving forward.
During their time with FK Budućnost, Strumija appeared in ten matches, while Kadida participated in friendly games without making an official debut. In closing, Kažić expressed gratitude towards both players for their conduct during their tenure, wishing them success in their future careers.
“I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the club, to thank Kadida and Strumija for their professionalism during their time with us and wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” Kažić concluded.
