Vigilantes Attack ‘Serial Spitter’ in Brooklyn, NY Amid Outrage

UPDATE: A man accused of a shocking spitting spree targeting white women in Brooklyn was brutally assaulted by vigilantes on the streets. Anthony Caines, 45, was recorded being beaten outside a hair salon, just days after his arrest for the disturbing acts, which took place on November 11 and 12, 2025.

The NYPD arrested Caines on November 13, following reports of three separate incidents in Williamsburg, where he allegedly spat in the faces of unsuspecting women. One victim described the violation, saying, “It was in my face, of all places. It was crazy, honestly.”

On Tuesday, a video shared by NYC Scoop captured the chaotic street beating. The footage shows Caines curled in a fetal position, as two unidentified men deliver a relentless barrage of punches and kicks. The men, their faces obscured, can be heard laughing as they attack. Caines, visibly injured with a bloody gash above his left eye, cries out in pain, desperately attempting to shield himself.

“Stop violating these females out here, you heard? We’re tired of that s***,” one assailant warns Caines during the attack.

Earlier, Caines had pleaded not guilty to charges including aggravated harassment based on race or religion, and he left custody wearing an ankle monitor. The NYPD confirmed they have not yet received any reports regarding the vigilante attack.

This incident reflects a troubling trend of spitting attacks across the United States. Similar acts of aggression have surfaced recently, including a reported incident in Portland where a woman was spat on while shopping. She expressed feeling specifically targeted, stating, “I was the chosen victim.”

The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office is actively seeking additional victims to come forward regarding Caines’ spitting spree. With a history of prior arrests for domestic violence and contempt of court, Caines’ future remains uncertain as community outrage grows.

As the story develops, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. The public remains on high alert as incidents of this nature spark widespread concern.
