URGENT UPDATE: The iconic Newcastle bar and nightclub, Nancy’s Bordello, has officially been sold, six years after its closure in early 2019. The sale was confirmed by Christie & Co, the specialist business property adviser managing the process, highlighting the site’s potential for redevelopment.
Located at 13 Argyle Street, Nancy’s Bordello was a favorite among students and young professionals, thanks to its prime position near Northumbria University and Manors Metro. The venue spans over 6,300 square feet and features a multi-level layout that includes a bar, function room, commercial kitchen, and cellar. Its strategic location in a densely populated area drew significant interest from potential buyers.
The property was listed with a guide price of £499,000 and swiftly attracted attention from developers and hospitality operators. While the new owners have yet to unveil their plans, the site presents numerous possibilities—from reopening as a vibrant nightlife venue to converting it for student accommodation or mixed-use commercial space, pending planning approval.
Former owner Stuart Bailey of The Apartment Group expressed his pride in the establishment’s legacy, stating,
“After over a decade of serving students, young professionals and locals, Nancy’s has been a cherished neighbourhood bar.”
He emphasized the importance of partnering with Christie & Co to ensure a smooth sale process, ultimately finding a buyer who recognizes the venue’s potential.
The sale was facilitated by property advisors Marslie McGregor and David Cash, who noted,
“We are delighted to have completed the sale of Nancy’s Bordello. Its reputation and location made it a standout opportunity.”
They expressed eagerness to see how the new owners will reinvigorate the site.
As the local community awaits news on the future of this beloved venue, the sale marks a significant shift in Newcastle’s nightlife landscape. Stay tuned for updates as we monitor the developments surrounding this iconic location.
