Albania marked its 113th anniversary of independence with a grand ceremony in Podgorica, Montenegro, on November 28, 2023. Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Albania, the event attracted around 550 attendees, including Montenegro’s President Jakov Milatović and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić. The gathering also featured high-ranking officials, accredited ambassadors, local authorities, and members of the judiciary, alongside representatives from various cultural, academic, and social sectors, as well as the Albanian community in Montenegro.
In her welcoming address, Albanian Ambassador Zhaklina Peto emphasized the significance of November 28 as a pivotal date in the establishment of the Albanian state. She described the day as a symbol of resilience, national identity, and European aspirations. Ambassador Peto highlighted the strengthening ties between Albania and Montenegro, which are built on partnership, trust, and collaboration in areas such as infrastructure, economy, culture, and European integration.
