A West Lothian man facing a terminal diagnosis had a heartwarming opportunity to meet stars from the Rangers Football Club, including the team’s new manager, Danny Rohl. Graham Glasgow participated in a special event at the club’s Auchenhowie training ground, arranged by the Rangers Charity Foundation. This initiative aims to uplift individuals living with terminal or life-altering illnesses through its Dream Fund program.
On March 15, 2024, Glasgow joined nine other nominees, all selected by family or friends, for an unforgettable day. The guests were welcomed at the Rangers Training Centre, where they had the chance to interact with players, coaching staff, and Rohl. The event included an exclusive autograph session, allowing fans to engage closely with their favorite footballers.
Following the meet-and-greet, the group enjoyed a special lunch at Ibrox Stadium, capped off by a tour of the historic venue. Colin Latta, who accompanied his brother-in-law Graham, expressed profound gratitude for the experience. “The kindness and generosity we encountered were incredible,” Latta said. “Graham was overwhelmed by the warmth and compassion shown by everyone we met. The players and staff made him feel truly valued and welcomed.”
Latta highlighted the special connection between Graham and Nico Raskin, a standout player for the team. “Nico has long been Graham’s favorite player, so seeing him in person was already a dream come true,” he recalled. The moment Raskin knelt beside Graham for a group photo became a cherished memory for the family.
Reflecting on the impact of such encounters, Raskin remarked, “When we meet fans like that who are unwell, it really puts things into perspective. We just try to give them a smile and a good moment.”
The Dream Fund provides unique experiences for children and adults whose lives have been touched by challenges such as disability, illness, or bereavement. These experiences include behind-the-scenes visits at the Rangers Training Centre, matchday experiences, and personalized Dream Fund letters.
The ongoing support for the Dream Fund has been bolstered by contributions from individuals who attended the 2025 Charity Ball. Rachael Cosgrove, the Foundation Charity Executive responsible for coordinating Dream Day experiences, shared her enthusiasm for the program. “We loved welcoming our Dream Day guests and ensuring they had a special experience during very difficult times,” she said. “This is something we can offer to make their days a little brighter when they are most in need.”
The Rangers Charity Foundation continues to play a vital role in the community, demonstrating how sports can bring joy and support to those facing adversity. The heartfelt stories of individuals like Graham Glasgow remind us all of the power of compassion and the positive impact that organizations can have.
