Man Arrested with Machete and Air Pistol After Car Break-In Attempt

UPDATE: A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Crosby after attempting to break into cars while armed with a machete and an air pistol. The alarming incident occurred around 9 PM on November 24, prompting an urgent response from Merseyside Police.

Witnesses reported the suspect trying door handles on parked vehicles along Blundellsands Road West. Officers swiftly arrived on the scene and apprehended the individual nearby. During the search, police recovered multiple suspected stolen items, including a mobile phone, small knives, and an air pistol, alongside snap bags of cannabis.

Detective Inspector Sara Lang emphasized the importance of community vigilance: “Thanks to the swift response from officers, we were able to arrest a man at the scene after the incident was reported to us. I hope this shows our communities how seriously we take these reports.”

The suspect, hailing from Prescot, remains in police custody on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and burglary. This incident highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding vehicle-related crime, prompting police to urge residents to report any suspicious activity.
