UPDATE: Tobias “Toby” Casey has officially secured an open seat on the West Stockbridge Select Board following a closely watched election on November 17. Town Clerk Ronni Barrett confirmed the results just after polls closed at 7 p.m., revealing Casey received 161 votes, representing 58.5 percent of the total votes cast. His opponent, Susan Lupo, garnered 114 votes, or 41.5 percent.
This election is significant for West Stockbridge, which has a total of 1,211 registered voters. Turnout was relatively low, with approximately 23 percent of voters participating in this critical decision for local governance. The seat became available following the resignation of Select Board member Andrew Potter on July 30. Potter’s term was set to expire in 2028.
In the wake of Potter’s departure, the remaining Select Board members, Chair Andrew Krouss and member Kathleen Keresey, faced discussions about how best to fill the vacant position. The election results indicate a clear preference from the community for Casey to bring his vision to the board.
With Casey now serving, residents are looking ahead to how his leadership will impact local policies and initiatives. As the town navigates various challenges, including community development and public services, the Select Board’s composition will play a pivotal role in shaping West Stockbridge’s future.
