The Directorate for Protection and Rescue of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Montenegro has issued a warning urging residents to adapt their activities to the upcoming severe weather conditions. According to the Hydrometeorological and Seismological Institute of Montenegro (ZHMS), the country is expected to experience heavy rainfall over the next seven to eight days, accompanied by strong and potentially stormy winds from the south and southeast.
In light of these forecasts, the Directorate cautions that adverse weather could significantly disrupt daily activities and lead to various consequences in affected areas. Citizens and organizations are advised to take specific precautions to ensure safety during this period.
Safety Recommendations for Citizens
Residents are encouraged to adjust their plans according to the current weather conditions, particularly avoiding outdoor activities during the most intense rainfall and wind gusts. The Directorate emphasizes the importance of staying informed through official announcements and recommendations from relevant authorities via media channels and official communication platforms.
Special attention should be given to the state of watercourses, atmospheric drainage, and the stability of structures, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides, as well as high waves. It is also vital to ensure that emergency services, such as firefighting and rescue teams, have unobstructed access in case of an intervention.
Operational Readiness and Monitoring
The Directorate has disseminated this warning to all entities within the protection and rescue system, along with a recommendation to enhance operational readiness and increase monitoring of the situation on the ground. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the risks associated with the anticipated severe weather and ensure the safety of all citizens in Montenegro during this challenging period.
As conditions evolve, ongoing updates will be crucial for maintaining public safety and awareness.
