In response to the tragic loss of life in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Government of Montenegro has declared a day of mourning for Thursday, November 6, 2025. This decision follows an emergency phone session held by the government, which received the consensus of most members.
A devastating fire broke out in a retirement home in Tuzla, specifically on the seventh floor, where residents with limited mobility were located. The incident has raised concerns and grief across the region, prompting the Montenegrin government to take swift action in honor of those who lost their lives.
On the designated day of mourning, flags will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings, local administration offices, and public institutions, in accordance with the Law on State Symbols and the Day of Statehood. The government has also mandated that no public, cultural, or entertainment events will take place on this day, and music will not be played in hospitality venues.
Electronic and other media outlets are required to adjust their programming to reflect the significance of this day. The President and members of the Government of Montenegro have expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to Tuzla’s Mayor, Zijad Lugavić, and all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The tragic event has not only affected the local community in Tuzla but has also resonated throughout the region, highlighting the shared grief and solidarity among neighboring countries. The commitment to honor the deceased reflects a deep respect for human life and the importance of community support during difficult times.
As preparations for the day of mourning continue, the government urges citizens to reflect on the gravity of the situation and to come together in remembrance of those who suffered in this calamity.
