Police in Herceg Novi have apprehended Nikola Ivovic, a 35-year-old man convicted of murdering Stefan Sarovic in 2019. The arrest follows a series of intensive operations aimed at locating individuals wanted for serious criminal offenses. According to the police, Ivovic was sentenced to 17 years in prison by the Higher Court in Podgorica for his role in the murder committed on June 6, 2019.
In addition to Ivovic, authorities arrested two other individuals during the operation. Police acting on operational intelligence located Ivovic, who was wanted for serving his prison sentence. The police statement detailed that he was convicted of committing murder in complicity, which resulted in the death of Sarovic.
Authorities also detained a 29-year-old man identified as V.S., who was wanted under a national warrant for a separate conviction. He is set to serve a sentence of three years and six months for multiple robbery offenses previously committed in the Herceg Novi area.
The arrests took place in an apartment owned by a third individual, identified as S.Lj., a 46-year-old Serbian national. He has been taken into custody on suspicion of aiding Ivovic and V.S. following the commission of their respective crimes. S.Lj. will be presented to the prosecutor’s office within the legal timeframe for further proceedings.
This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the police administration to actively seek and apprehend individuals wanted at both national and international levels for serious crimes. The police emphasized that they are dedicated to combating organized crime and will pursue anyone providing logistical support to fugitives.
The arrested individuals will be transferred to serve their sentences in the relevant correctional facility as part of the legal process. Authorities continue to focus on dismantling organized crime networks in the region, ensuring that all involved parties face legal consequences for their actions.
