UPDATE: Kotor has just pulled off a stunning victory against Jedinstvo, winning 77-70 in the quarterfinals of the Montenegro Cup. This unexpected win at the tournament in Bijelo Polje sees Kotor join SC Derbi and Budućnost Volija in the semifinals.
The match saw fierce competition, with both teams exchanging leads throughout the first half. Jedinstvo led by as much as seven points in the second quarter, holding a score of 28-21. However, Kotor rallied back, flipping the game in their favor with a halftime lead of 38-31.
In the second half, Kotor maintained their momentum, stretching their lead to as much as nine points. Although Jedinstvo fought back, closing the gap to just half a basket at 67-66 with just over two and a half minutes remaining, Kotor responded with an explosive 8-0 run, sealing their victory at 75-66.
Kotor’s Majki Pirson was the standout player, racking up 22 points and 13 rebounds, supported by Đorđe Antić and Aleksandar Sužnjev, each contributing 13 points. Sužnjev also showcased his playmaking skills with seven assists. On the opposing side, Milan Lužajić led Jedinstvo with 21 points, while Marko Kljajević added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Kotor now looks ahead to the semifinals, where they will face the winner of the ongoing match between Mornara and Sutjeska. This thrilling victory not only secures Kotor’s place in the next round but also elevates the excitement around the Montenegro Cup.
