Živković Criticizes Government’s Use of European Rhetoric

Danijel Živković, the President of the Democratic Party of Socialists, recently addressed concerns regarding the current Montenegrin government’s management practices during a meeting with David McAllister, the Chair of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee. Živković asserted that the rhetoric surrounding European integration is being misused as a cover for significant failures in governance and the exploitation of state resources for party interests.

Živković emphasized that such actions are exacerbating political and social instability in Montenegro. He stated that the country requires a strong and accountable government that is unequivocally pro-European to complete the negotiations with the European Union and lead Montenegro to full membership.

The Democratic Party of Socialists leader pointed out that, alongside concluding the negotiation process, it is crucial to initiate accelerated economic development. He described this as necessary to address the consequences of what he termed “catastrophic” governance over the past decade and a half.

Živković’s remarks come at a time when the political landscape in Montenegro remains complex and fraught with challenges. His call for responsible governance resonates with many citizens who are increasingly concerned about the direction of the country. By urging for a government that prioritizes accountability and European integration, Živković is positioning his party as a key player in the ongoing discussions surrounding Montenegro’s future within Europe.

As Montenegro navigates its path toward EU membership, the emphasis on responsible governance and effective management of state resources remains critical. Živković’s statements highlight the importance of aligning political rhetoric with actionable policies that can foster stability and growth in the region.
